OXOL was a four-piece indie rock band from The Netherlands founded in the mid-1990s. They had quietly disappeared by 2004.
OXOL recorded and performed their own material, which was influenced by such diverse genres as psychedelic rock, folk, indie pop, electronic soundscape music and Britpop. The Dutch press evidently found it hard to label them, citing a wide range of influences including Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Sonic Youth, Zita Swoon and dEUS. The band themselves would rather drop names such as The Beatles, Soulwax, Radiohead, Blur, King Crimson, U2 and Supergrass.
The band recorded and self-released two full-length albums. The score to a 'multi media opera', Zeb/Rent-a-demon was released in 1999, followed one year later by Otherworld (2000).
OXOL was:
Erik Vercouteren - drums
Pieter van der Lee - keyboards, accordion
Dyane Donck - bass, vocals
Tijn Berkelmans - guitar, vocals
After the demise of OXOL, Tijn Berkelmans re-surfaced in the more succesful Wolfendale, whereas Dyane Donck appeared in a new band called Daisy Bell.
