Tim Schmidts folky Melodien in seinen zeitlosen & fragilen Songs fordern zum genauen Zuhören auf. In seiner ursprünglichen Musik klingt ein wenig Nick Drake, Michael Hurley & Bob Dylan an, jedoch entwickelt sich daraus etwas komplett Eigenständiges.

INTERVIEW BY FRENCH "CINEMA-ROCK"


CINEMA ROCK (CR):
1. When did you start making music? What made you want to start? What were your influences? What bands or songs did you like that inspired you to start making your own music?

TIM SCHMIDT (TS):
- I started out playing the drums like Iggy Pop...
and the whole thing has developed to these folky tunes...

-Hmm..hard to say, but nowadays i dont listen that much to music actually...
when i play i can sometimes hear an influence in the tune i am writing...
might be something i have heard a few months/years earlier...
it could be anything from Daniel Johnston to David Bowie.

- If I have got the time i tend to listen to a lot of new bands on myspace...
one of favourite musicians is always Michael Hurley!

CR:
2. What is the most amazing thing that has happend to you
from being on tour?

TS
-haha, it has been amazing just to be able to be on tour,
the most amazing is all the wonderful people i have met,
and of course the great venues...

one night in an crowded underground folkclub in a trainwagon
and the next in some blues joint or just on a table in Berlin...
you never know where you will end up or who you will meet.
this summer i will play my first french gig ever! At POP IN in Paris,
really looking forward to that!

-Sometimes radio has made some hype
and sometimes no one knows who you are...
but it always works out somehow...

CR:
3. How do you feel about winning Myspace's 'Best Unsigned Act' award?
How has the band evolued since?

TS:
-Amazing!!
I am so glad people are listening and were voting for me!
I still cant belive it.
I hope this will help me getting a few more listeners and gigs...
We will see what happends, but would be nice with a record deal
and some booking agencies...

CR:
4. What are your other cultural interests
and activities aside from playing music?

TS:
- I am grown up with art, i also like good movies and books,
but nowadays i dont seem to have the time.

CR:
5. What are the Swedish bands that interest you the most these days?
Can you tell us why?

TS:
Well there are loads of great bands, you will always find some new things on myspace..hmm...
some Swedes I like Nicolai Dunger, Oscar Schönning,
Hajen..but now with Myspace and internet its as easy to listen to some canadian or french or australian bands...

6. What are your 5 favourite records?

TS:
Its so difficult to say..Only 5!!!
but here are a five good albums

7. What are your top 3 movies?

TS:
- I do like movies by Jim Jarmusch, David Lynch, Aki Kurismaki,
Lars Von Trier...the list could be long.
