The Past (1985 – 1990)....

1985 the singer Andy Cay and the drummer Achim Jaspert met in a rehearsal room in Münster accidentally. Because of mutual sympathy they both decided to found a band: Split Mirrors were born. This band combines Jasper's experiences of his percussion-study in India and Cay's past life as a singer in the USA. Influenced by their friends Alphaville from Münster and by the melancholic song of the Pet Shop Boys they started their creative work. After short time many gigs in the inland and also abroad followed, some maxis and and the album "1999" were produced. The debut-single "The Right Time" became a hit of the New-Pop-wave at the end of the 80s.

The Present (1995 – 2006)....

After the first successes Andy and Achim attended to the aid of new talents. They took on the songwriting and composing for young artists and international interpreters. Their work got very successful (over 2 mio. sold albums, some gold-albums). Achim Jaspert: "We've learned to center contents and feelings." At the millennium they got back to their musical roots. The experiences and new inspirations of the last years led to a reunion of the band, which was never broken. With the remix of "Voices" they started a new musical cycle in the beginning of 2000. In the new, so far not published tracks you can recognize adventures of many club-tours in London and .New York. Split Mirrors are going to produce the LP, that is long expected by their multinational fans, as well as cooperations with English and German Club-DJs. "The mutual influence of songstructures of the pop-music and of the current dance-music with patternbasics is enormous", says Andy Cay.

The Future (2007 - )....

The best ones die young – rank nonsense!

Only the best ones stay alive – and keep rediscovering themselves over and over again. 19 years after their first single "The Right Time", Achim Jaspert (composition) and Andy Cay (vocals) still work together in best harmony. Young keyboarder Henry Flex, who recently joined the band, supports the electropop-pioneers with innovative and modern melodies.
On their new album "In London" the three musicians capture the different moods of this pulsating music metropole. In a perfect way the music describes a bustling day at the Picadilly Circus as well a walk through the ..Hyde Park.. on a rainy sunday morning. Beautiful and intense guitar riffs add to complex and melodic electro-pop arrangements.

The Past (1985 - 1990)
1985 trafen der Sänger Andy Cay und der Schlagzeuger Achim Jaspert sich zufällig in einem Proberaum in Münster. Aufgrund gegenseitiger Sympathie beschlossen die Beiden eine gemeinsame Band zu gründen: Split Mirrors waren geboren. Die Band vereint die Erfahrungen, die Jaspert in Indien im Percussion- Studium und Cay in den USA als Sänger gesammelt hatten. Inspiriert von ihren Kollegen Alphaville aus Münster und den melancholischen Songs der Pet Shop Boys ging man kreativ ans Werk. Schon nach kurzer Zeit folgten zahlreiche Auftritte im In- und Ausland, mehrere Maxis und das Album "1999" wurden produziert. Die Debütsingle "The Right Time" avancierte zum Kult-Hit der ausklingenden New Pop Bewegung Ende der achtziger Jahre.

Nach den ersten Erfolgen widmeten sich Andy und Achim fortan verstärkt der Förderung neuer Talente. Sie übernahmen das Songwriting und Komponieren für junge Künstler und internationale Interpreten. Ihre Aufbauarbeit erwies sich als sehr erfolgreich (über 2 Mio. verkaufte Platten, zahlreiche Goldalben). Achim Jaspert: "wir haben gelernt, Inhalte und Gefühle auf den Punkt zu bringen." Im Jahr des Millenniumswechsels folgt dann die Rückbesinnung auf ihre musikalischen Wurzeln. Die Erfahrungen und neuen Inspirationen der letzten Jahre führten zu einer Reunion der Band, die nie getrennt war. Sie starteten Anfang 2000 mit dem Remix ihres Titels "Voices" einen neuen musikalischen Zyklus. In den neuen, bislang noch nicht veröffentlichten Tracks, kommen auch die Erlebnisse von zahlreichen Club Aufenthalten in London und New York zum Ausdruck. Die von zahlreichen Fans im In- und Ausland lang erwartete LP steht sowohl auf dem Programm, als auch diverse Kooperationen mit englischen und deutschen Club- DJs. "Die gegenseitige Beeinflussung von Songstrukturen des Pop und der aktuellen Dance Music auf Patternbasis ist echt enorm", so Sänger Andy Cay.

Die Besten sterben jung - Quatsch!
Nur die Besten überleben sich selbst - und entdecken sich immer wieder neu. 19 Jahre nach der ersten Single „The right time" arbeiten Achim Jaspers, Komposition und Andy Cay, Gesang noch immer in bester Eintracht zusammen. Dazu gestoßen ist ein junger Keyboar der, Henry Flex, der die beiden Elektropop Pioniere mit modernen Melodien unterstützt. Perfekt eingefangen werden die Stimmungen dieser pulsierenden Musikmetropole. In London klingt sowohl wie ein hektischer Tag am Piccadilly Circus als auch ein Spaziergang an einem verregneten Sonntagmorgen im Hyde Park. Kraftvolle Gitarrenriffs fügen sich harmonisch in vielschichtige melodiöse Arrangements ein.
