Who reads biographies anyway? They are usually boring and completely irrelevant to the music itself. That's why we are not going to burden you with facts about the band members' background or favorite dishes. Who left and why and when, who came in and when and how. The truth might also be that we don't know how to write a proper bio, so rather than blahblahing something utterly useless, we are not going to say anything, much. Go figure.

Let's just briefly say that Murmansk started making their distorted, feedback -filled music back in 2003 in Helsinki, Finland. That's in the backwoods of Northern Europe, a cold and isolated country between Sweden and Russia. Well it used to be a lot colder. Our music is bass-driven, our melancholic melodies come wrapped in distorted guitars, female vocals and dramatic drums (was everybody mentioned?) – you could call it shoegaze with aggressive edge. And yes, of course people have come and gone along the way… The current line-up dates from the beginning of 2008: Olli (bass), Laura (vocs, guitar), Jaakko (drums), Jari (guitar).

The band's debut album Chinese Locks was released in 2008, which is to be followed by Eleven Eyes To Shade this year. Murmansk has shared stage so far with such acts as Liars, Kinski, A Place To Bury Strangers, dEUS and Zombie Zombie. This might also give some idea what the music is all about. Find out.
