SHAMANISTIC FINNISH DARK-ACOUSTIC NEOFOLK
This music is inspired by the mysticism and multidimensional beauty of finnish untouched nature.
BIOGRAPHY
Loitsu is a painting, where shamanistic lonely grim
and shimmering brightness of the northern lights are combining with the ecstasy of sounds that acoustic instruments are creating. Mysticism of nature and its wonderfull ambiences are playing together with the beauty of quitars, piano, violin, flute and dephts of a shamandrum.
Timeless silence is the water which surface Loitsu lies. Esthetics of the deep waters is the sparkle that is blowing gleam to the surrealistic landscape of soul. To that same landscape which silent hymn we
listen and try to touch the poetry of a stormy winds that we are experiencing when wandering forward through snow and ice. To that same landscape where we spent a moment to bow for the beauty
and mystics of nature just before we sink back to the twilight and deep blue darkness of a northern mid-winter.
In spiritual way, -for us- Loitsu is a shamanistic / animistic way to greet, honour and thank the universe. To be the silent echo for the sing of mother-earth. Loitsu is also there for waking up the sparkle in human being. That same sparke which has been waked up in so many -but way too rear- people in some strange times. That same sparkle which was needed to born Loitsu. Inner fire that burns the walls and barriers that keep us not Seeing. Inner fire that rises like a snake.
Every song is a painting about what we can hear when we look through the mist that has been fallen upon the black swamp-pond. When we look all the way to the distant haze of stars. Painting about that, what we can hear when we touch the bark of a old tree.
HISTORY
Loitsu (The Spell) was founded by Roni Jokinen in cold spring 2003 at the island of Otava in Turku Archipelago. Loitsu has been one of my mirrors to see things in my subconscious and bring something from there to this place and time. Most of the music has never been recorded or released and sometimes there is only changing flow of notes or melody and not even song at all. I keep spring 2003 as a time of Loitsu's birth, because that was the time when I actually recorded first songs of Loitsu. Songs was called Hiljainen Polku (the silent path), Tuulen Kuiskaus (whisper of the wind) and Talven Kutsu (call of winter). These 3 tracks were never released. During years 2004-2006 demo for Loitsu was made. Aamujen Auer (The Haze of Mornings) included 3 tracks which was released free
on internet. As honouring these early-years of Loitsu, we will re-record these 3 tracks, Suopursu (marsh tea), Kuiske (whisper) and Auer (haze) and release them after debut as a vinyl-format. In fall 2008 Loitsu developed and growed fysically, mentally and spiritually. A good friend of mine, wanderer of the Path, Juha Kaartinen joined Loitsu and we started to write new material together. After 4 months there was 6 hours of audio waiting for arrangement. During these jamming-sessions Loitsu developed also quite a lot in musical way.
The same spirit is there, but its deeper, wider and more complex.
It took almost six years to develope and understand the full vision and concept of Loitsu, but now its finally done. Complete, and all the songs are somewhere there just waiting their time to born.
