Hewar is a Syrian jazz project formed by a group of young talented and established Syrian musicians, among them the clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, a Oud soloist (Issam Rafea), a lyrical Soprano (Dima Orsho), accompanied by a percussionist (Badi Rafea), a drummer (Simone Mreysh) and a Double-bassist (Khaled Omran); in addition to a Cellist (Kinan Abu Afash), and another percussionist—all of whom are alumnae of the Syrian National Orchestra. They mix diverse musical influences and musical traditions, Arabic, jazz, scat, opera and classical music.
