Grg

Gregor Schlensog was born in October 1976 in Eastern Germany, today known as southern Brandenburg. At the age of 5 he got an old guitar from his father, who was a pretty good guitarplayer and leader of the local singing club „Red October“. After the wall was fallen in ’89 he got the first contact to Acid House music. But it took another 5 years and an intention of his cousin Rolf to listen to electronic music and to start to make sounds.

In the beginning he worked with Tracker programms as the 4-channel Whackertracker; and afterwards the 32-channel Fasttracker on an old 386sx/15. Soon he got contact to Paul Schrickel(Acid Paul) and Jens Goehler(Timothy Laery). The concept of playing and producing completly with analog equipment was quite expensive. So he took some jobs to earn the money while making the exam.

In ’95 he was playing together with Jens and Paul live for the first time at the „Little Home“ in Senftenberg as Ensemble Acid Paul with a 303, 202, deep bass 9 and a hr 16b from alesis. A proverb says:“He was licking blood“!

Some years later the eap 01 appeared. A complete selfproduced and distributed record. Some people say it was a mixture of Cody Chesnutt roughness and a 303. One year later he was working as a free author at the magazine Heftig. In 2000 the eap02 appeard. But the Enseble sinished playing together as a team and grg continued on his own.

In 2001 he was practising in Berlin at D.A.V.E. GmbH where he got to know MacOS and the possibilities of CPU-based Sequencers. Influenced by this impressions he started to change the way of producing and live playing.

In 2003 he produced the CD Pyridin completly with analogue equipment reaching the technological maximums. After that point he produced with Softwaresequencers only. From 2004 on he also played on Hardcore- and Tribetekkparties together with Format C:\.

In 2005 he got a request from Matthias Friedrich from 392 TEKKnik eXPrimental REC for making some traxx. Matthias was an old friend who made some parties in former times and booked him too.

In late 2005 he finished his studies at the Fraunhofer Institute of Mediatechnology at Ilmenau writing about the extraction of instruments of common music.

So far he’s watching the bucks growing. /gr

Sounds:

Grg always tries to create a completely new set for each single gig. By this method he is always forced to explore new possibilities, effects and sounds.
He was influenced by SpeedyJ, Woody McBride, Surgeon, Depeche Mode, Orbital, the Chemical Brothers, Portishead and many more. So he always tries to combine broken beats with phrases and the old classic style like the first Missile records combined with effects.
