Artist Detailed Info: Why G

Why G (born Shamaury White on November 12, 1995) is a Canadian drill rapper. He is a prominent figure in the underground Toronto hip-hop scene. He is originally from the Jamestown area of the Rexdale neighbourhood in Northwest Toronto but moved to the Jane and Finch, Driftwood area. He is heavily associated with the 3L / Blue Feather Records (BFR) music collective, moving in the same circles as fellow Toronto artists Pressa, the late Houdini, and Top5. Following an attempted murder charge in Toronto, White fled the country to evade Canadian authorities. He spent a prolonged period on the run in Los Angeles and the Midwest before being apprehended by U.S. law enforcement in Columbus, Ohio, and extradited back to Canada. The charges were subsequently dropped or beaten in court, allowing him to return to music full-time.
