The Scratch

There is more than one artist with this name, including:

1) an Irish folk metal band from from Dublin.
2) a British art rock band from St.Albans;

1) The Scratch are a four-piece band that fuse heavy metal, punk, and traditional Irish folk music. The band was founded in Perrystown, Dublin, by former Red Enemy members Jordan "Jordo" O'Leary, Daniel "Lango" Lang, Conor "Dock" Dockery, and Peter Keogh. After growing jaded with the constraints of the heavy metal scene, the musicians gathered in a kitchen and began jamming with acoustic guitars and a wooden box, leaning into a fusion of traditional folk melodies and thrash-metal energy. In late 2024, founding guitarist Jordan O'Leary announced his departure from the band. He was replaced by Gary "Snakeskin" Regan, with Daniel Lang stepping into expanded lead vocal duties.

The Scratch CV currently boasts two albums (and another on the way), seven singles, an XFM session, numerous radio appearances and live supports to the likes of Noel Gallagher, The Charlatans, Paul Weller, Ian Brown and Echo and the Bunnymen.
Kicking off the ye ar with a single 'Against the Grain' that reached number 10 in the unsigned chart and with BBC 6 airplay and a BBC 3 Counities session already in the bag 2009 is already looking exciting. '09 also sees a residency at our local venue The Horn, St.Albans. We will be playing there at bi-monthly intervals from March 27th, dates that have already tempted industry heavy weights John Robb and Goldblade (Mar 27th) and XFM DJ Clint Boon (June 5th) to sign up as headliners.
