Sub7even was a German rock band formed in 1999 in the Dortmund–Essen–Herne region. The band gained wider recognition with their debut single "Weatherman" and through several concert appearances alongside Böhse Onkelz.
Sub7even was founded in 1999 by former Rage members Christian Wolff, Sven Fischer, Spiros Efthimiadis and Christos Efthimiadis, together with singer Daniel Wirtz, who had previously been known mainly on a regional level. In the same year the band signed a recording contract with the label BMG.
In 2000 the band released their debut album "Sub7even", along with the single "Weatherman". The single reached number 38 in the German Media Control Charts. In December of that year the band made a guest appearance in the German television soap opera "Verbotene Liebe".
In 2001 Sub7even performed for larger audiences for the first time, including appearances at the festivals "Rock am Ring" and "SWR3-Open-Air". They also appeared as a supporting act for Böhse Onkelz at the benefit concert "Gegen den Hass", the proceeds of which were donated to victims of right-wing extremist violence. During the same year the band released another single from their debut album, titled "Wicked".
At the beginning of 2002 Sub7even released the single "Free Your Mind", recorded together with En Vogue. Later that year the band released the album "Free Your Mind", which entered the German Media Control Charts at number 50. In November 2002 the band parted ways with their label BMG. During the summer of that year Sub7even also served as a supporting act on the entire indoor tour of Böhse Onkelz, performing the song "Nur wenn ich besoffen bin" together with the band at a concert in Dortmund.
In early 2003 Sven Fischer and Christian Wolff left the band. Their parts were initially covered live by bassist Rob Protzmann before Kai Lemke joined the group as a permanent bassist. After leaving the band, Christian Wolff later worked as a producer in his own studio in East Frisia and collaborated with artists including Exilia, Within Temptation and 4Lyn.
In October 2004 Sub7even performed as the second supporting act at two concerts by Böhse Onkelz in Dortmund. In mid-November the band returned to the studio to record the album "LOVECHAINSROCKETS". The album was produced by Stephan Weidner, bassist of Böhse Onkelz.
In June 2005 Sub7even performed in front of approximately 120,000 people at the Böhse Onkelz farewell festival "Vaya con Tioz". Their collaboration with Stephan Weidner and their role as a supporting act for Böhse Onkelz also attracted criticism from parts of the media and from some event organizers.
On 26 May 2006 the album "LOVECHAINSNROCKETS" was released after several delays as the band's first release on the label 3R, founded by Stephan Weidner. The album marked a stylistic and image change for the band. Following the departure of keyboardist Chris Wolff, the group largely abandoned the use of atmospheric keyboard sounds and adopted a more straightforward rock-oriented approach.
At the end of 2007 bassist Kai Lemke left the band for personal reasons. In 2008 he was replaced on stage by PogoTS. After that time, no further band activities were reported.
