Artist Detailed Info: String Shift

String Shift was founded in 2013 by Ed Stevens, a cellist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and Charlie Witkowski, a marketing executive from Chicago. Being lifelong friends, Charlie and Ed worked together to create a new concept for live performance in the Fort Wayne area. The idea was to explore a fresh take on the concert experience combining some of the best music from today and yesterday along with the world-class talent of musicians from the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. These musicians work together to develop fun and engaging programs combining pop music and culture with a variety of classical styles.The programs are energetic yet the atmosphere is relaxed, all while still offering a high quality level of performance and artistry.


String Shift is made up of 9 string players, all of whom perform regularly with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and other ensembles throughout the Midwest. Each member has years of training from some of the finest music schools in the world paired with an open mind for exploring new types of musical styles. Coming from all over the country and even overseas, these players have found their way to Fort Wayne where they call home and make a living playing music.
