Steve Eagle is a Los Angeles-based techno & trance DJ/producer. Steve's DJ sets are all about the journey, incorporating tracks from a variety of genres and eras to create a unique, hypnotic atmosphere. He is best known for his "When Trance Was Good" mixes, a ten-part series focusing on the early to mid-90s European trance sound.
A native of Hartford, CT, Steve grew up listening to vinyl from his father's music collection, and eventually got hooked on the sounds of industrial and synthpop from artists like Front 242 and Information Society. This led him to the techno and trance sounds coming out of Europe in the mid 90s, which inspired him to start producing his own tracks in 1998 under the name Fabrik Nos. Steve's hybridized tracks found their way into industrial club rotations and alternative radio stations around the country, and not long after he was a resident DJ and host of the show Revolutions on 88.9 WERS FM in Boston. In 2001 he co-founded the techno label Heavy Industries with Boston native Evan LaPann (Simex), which would put out 18 quality releases in the techno and tech house genres.
Steve moved to Los Angeles in 2003 where he fell in with the techno collective Droid Behavior. Droid's first record featured a Drumcell remix of Steve's track "Genetix" and put Droid on the international techno map. This collaboration led to gigs with the underground radio station Vibeflow, parties with legendary LA promoter Ruth Nakada, and eventually Steve's own private events where he shared the decks with guests like Frankie Bones, Matt Dear and Troy Pierce.
After years of production and promotion, Steve is now focused primarily on DJing. His passion for diverse, atmospheric and energetic music has found enthusiasm from the eclectic and psychedelic crowds as well as the techno heads. Not bound by genres or scenes, Steve Eagle's goal is simply to play great music for great people.
