A long-standing obsession with ethereal music inspired Dave Gareth Lewis to let unseen aural forces breathe and unfold. After several years of creating original music and remixes, his debut album-length work is a studio project called static north.
Trained in New Media Arts, Dave learned the importance of engineering sound to work within live spaces, and set to moving images. This philosophy stuck with him and is evident in static north - music easily described as cinematic.
Controlled feedback, generated noise and shimmering guitar swirl, while basslines and the occasional drum machine barely contain the chaos. Elements of art and post-rock, ambient electronics and shoegaze filter through the haze. The name itself eludes to the unknown in nature - a noisy, unmoving isolation where there is much to be heard.
