Siu Black

Siu Black (born in Pleitonghia Commune, near the city of Kontum in Kon Tum Province, Vietnam, August 27, 1967) is a prominent Vietnamese popular singer from the Central Highlands. She is a member of the Ba Na (Bahnar) ethnic group.

She has been mentored by the singer Y Moan and has recorded several of the songs of Nguyễn Cường, and her renditions have achieved great popularity.

In 1993, she took a second job at the Kon Tum Electricity Company, and being in the company’s singing and dancing troupe helped her improve her skills. Black obtained consecutive successes for years and as a result, she won many gold medals at national professional dancing and singing festivals in 1984, 86, 89, 92, 94, 95 and 2004.

In 2007 she served as a judge on the Vietnam Idol television program. and the first Asian Idol competition, held in Indonesia in December 2007, representing Vietnam Idol. Starting in September 2007, she will host a comedy variety show called Nhật ký 0 độ on HTV9.

She was awarded the ASEAN Golden Voice medal in 1996 in Japan.
