Ruby Jean Rose was born in Los Angeles. Her father Bernard Rose, a successful film director, her mother Alexandra Pigg, a BAFTA nominated actress. At 12 years old, she moved to the south of England with her mother, step father and two of her siblings.
Here she started songwriting and performing, (supporting Marcus Foster amongst others). After training as sound engineer with Starfish Youth Music, she travelled around Indonesia and Vietnam performing in bars and clubs to pay her way.
Ruby's music took a political turn when she found herself in the Gezi Park riots in Istanbul in late 2013. A new set of songs reflected her first hand experience of these turbulent events. Back in Brighton, she teamed up with Dopegrinders to produce her work. An EP was completed in March this year.
The songs published by Not Them Again Music, will be released shortly but the lead track "I Don't Give A $h*t About Money" can already be viewed on Youtube, with a video directed by her father. She now lives in Berlin where she performs live while travelling to England to record new material, she continues to write songs for herself and other artists.
