The Path

RODAMUNDO debuted on January 2007 and, since then, has runned across Sao Paulo stages opened for the new Brazilian music.

In less than two years of its creation, the band received recognition both from fans and critics, winning “Festival Mente Aberta de Musica Brasileira” (“Open Mind Brazilian Music Festival”) on October 2007 over Internet, promoted by Epoca magazine and TramaVirtual label.

RODAMUNDO was first selected by a jury formed by great Brazilian musicians like Tom Ze, Joao Marcelo Boscolli (Elis Regina’s son) and Lucio Maia (Chico Science & Nacao Zumbi) and also by producers like Carlos Eduardo Miranda (CSS, Skank, Raimundos) and music critics like Luis Antonio Giron (Epoca magazine culture editor), and then chosen after a three eliminations serie through popular vote on the Internet.

The prize was a recording session at Trama Studios and so RODAMUNDO recorded his first 5-song EP. Producing was made by Ricardo Zohyo, musician and producer who have worked with Hermeto Paschoal, Natan Marques, Jane Duboc, Toninho Ferraguti, Renato Teixeira and drummer Nene, among others.

The band was also recently selected for the 1st SESI Popular Music Cycle for a tour around Sao Paulo country side cities and was invited to play at the 2008 edition of Fortaleza International Music Fair, at the capital of Brazilian Northeast state of Ceara.

RODAMUNDO has received praises by music producer Carlos Eduardo Miranda: "It’s a high quality young music style" (Epoca magazine nº 490 Oct 8, 2007)

And from culture editor Luis Antonio Giron: "It’s a well composed sound. A beautiful jazzy bossa nova. I liked it very much!" (online podcast from Oct 1, 2007)

The New Brazilian Music

With their original songs and some versions of Brazilian great artists, RODAMUNDO brings to musical universe its originality, blending the beats of jazz, blues, bossa nova, rock, soul, a lot of Brazilian music and a pinch of psychedelism, turning what looks convencional in an unpredictable musical trip.

RODAMUNDO is the portrait of its era through the diversity and experimentalism in Brazilian contemporary music.
