Oceanmachine

The Bielefeld band OceanMachine (not to be confused with the album of the same name by Devin Townsend) has been since at least 2001. The band recorded various demos since their inception, and had record label interest, but they were often dropped. It's claimed that they were "too alternative for the metal fans, [with] too much metal for the alternative supporters".

During this time, OceanMachine drifted more towards pro-rock. They had a hiatus because of work and family commitments, but after some time they realized they wanted to make music together. OceanMachine was re-launched. The result was the album Point Black, which was released in 2015. It is available to stream on Spotify and Amazon music for subscribers.

The various influences of the band are unmistakable. In addition to Rage Against The Machine, they are also inspired by Soundgarden and Audioslave. Velvet Revolver and Incubus have also helped to shape the musical direction of OceanMachine. Band member Hendrik has been quoted as saying: “The bands mentioned are certainly very much part of our musical socialization and are incorporated. You are always just a melting pot of your environment.”
