Nular is an instrumental progressive metal artist from Budapest, Hungary, known for pushing the boundaries of what it means to play live. Using a self-developed MIDI controller system built into a vest, he performs as a one-man band—no backing tracks, no metronome, no compromises. Every sound is triggered in real time: downtuned guitars, complex polyrhythms, synths, and atmospheric textures, all performed with virtuosic finger drumming and deep sound design. His latest album, Live in Berlin, is an unedited recording of a fully improvised set at the sold-out Berlin Prog Night 2025. Heavy, dark, and unpredictable, Nular’s sound is inspired by Meshuggah, Vildhjarta, and TesseracT—but his approach is truly one of a kind.
