Noreaster

Noreaster was formed in May 2006 by five college students from Warwick and Cranston, Rhode Island. The group is made up of lead singer Ethan Rosenberg, guitarist Matt Cotter, bass player Sam Ahmed, keyboard player Mike Blackman, and drummer Eric Kalver. The group had its beginnings in Ethan and Sam's desire to produce a follow-up effort to their 2005 rap album, "Toll What? 2005", released under the name "Doublebass Productions". In December 2005, the two decided to stray away from rap and recruited their high school friend and longtime guitarist Matt Cotter, as well as Ethan's cousin and drummer Eric Kalver, to join their efforts to form a new band. The boys had planned on releasing a demo in January 2006, but ran into time constraints and other problems, and the plans were put on hold. Over the next few months, they continued writing music while at college in anticipation of the summer when they would be reunited and could put their work together. In May 2006, Mike Blackman was added on keyboards and the band as we know it was formed.

Noreaster is very diverse in their sound, but can be classified as a rock/folk rock group with a hint of sarcastic comedy. Their first CD, "Noreaster", is scheduled for release on August 5, 2006, and will showcase this variety in sound. From soft and mellow in tunes such as "Move On", to upbeat and punchy in songs like "I Need You", and everything in between, Noreaster aims to create music that will please almost any listener. The band is expected to play venues around the greater Providence, RI and Boston, MA metropolitan area beginning in August 2006.
