Msv

In late 2005, from the faraway shores of the Philippines, Rafael (Raffy) Tragic joined Nassau, NY-based, catchy-rock band MSV (Sue Forte and Guy Forte, Joe Roze, and Renan Villegas) taking over bass duties. Having rounded out their line-up, MSV played their debut gig in Troy, NY in January 2006. Since then, MSV has performed at a number of venues around the New York Capital District, including Positively 4th Street, Valentine's, Red Square, Bayou Café, Cheers, and Jed's Place. The band also went on a writing tear, putting together over a dozen original songs in 2006.

Under the tutelage of native Filipinos, Renan and Raffy, MSV also added a number of Pinoy (Filipino) rock songs from such acts as Juan de la Cruz, Bamboo, and Rivermaya to their repertoire. A significant Filipino following has resulted, catapulting MSV into the spotlight at several Filipino cultural events in 2006 and 2007.

MSV's unique sound is a composite of its members' eclectic influences and cultural backgrounds. With four members currently working in the medical field, much of the lyrical content of the band's songs revolves around health-related themes. Musically, Rafael's driving, yet melodic bass lines show his alternative rock and funk influences and carry MSV's songs to another level, holding down the rhythm section along with Guy and Sue. Renan's soaring guitar work, most obviously influenced by Randy Rhoads, combined with Joe's colorful vocals round out MSV's catchy-rock sound.

2007 saw MSV in the studio laying down tracks for their debut ep. Released in early April, The Martha EP includes 5 of MSV's catchiest rock tracks. MSV took time out during the recording of The Martha EP to perform at the Scott Dorrance Benefit at Positively 4th Street. A compilation of recordings from this daylong event was released later that year. The musical journey begun more than 3 years ago continues with MSV adding new songs, playing new gigs, and bringing their unique catchy-rock sound to audiences far and wide.
