Mostly Dimes

Mostly Dimes is an electro-acoustic band out of Ballard, in Seattle, Washington, influenced by the Delta blues, D.C. punk, and protest folk. The songs are pop at heart, featuring two resonator guitars, mandolin, bass, trumpet, clarinet, and a minimalist drum kit. The band intertwines finger-style guitar and dense instrumentation with lyrics about the darker threads of history, the general miasma of life, and the like.

For instance, “Crowdful of Strangers” is an ode to a dead friend delivered through rich harmonies and instrumental interplay. And “Can You Hear Me NY?” is a haunting song about the bureaucracy surrounding the Rwandan genocide.

DOUBLE NICKELS, MOSTLY DIMES is the band’s first album, produced by Kevin Suggs, over a couple of days. All initial instrumentation was recorded live, without overdubbing, in one room. Album art is by Steve Quenell.
