Dallas rapper MO3 emerged from the city's Northside with unflinching and honest snapshots of street life. His booming flows and slow-burning style met with streetwise lyrics on projects like 2017's 4 Indictments.
MO3 was born Melvin Noble in 1992. His rap debut came in the form of his 2014 mixtape, Shottaz. On the strength of that effort, he developed a local following and inked a deal with his idol, rapper Boosie Badazz. The sequel to his debut, Shottaz Reloaded, arrived at the close of 2015. The album featured "Hold Ya Tongue," which went on to become a moderate hit for MO3, notching nearly two million streaming views in the year after its release. Reloaded hit number 14 on the Billboard Rap chart, climbing to number two on the Heatseekers chart. His follow-up, 4 Indictments, appeared in late 2016 and topped the Heatseekers chart early the following year. He also issued the Gangsta Love, Pt. 1 mixtape in 2017.
Badazz MO3MO3's 2018 project Shottaz 3.0 would include one of his biggest hits yet, the cautionary "Errybody," which also racked up millions in streaming numbers. The next year found MO3 mainly releasing singles, including the Aaliyah-sampling "No Feelings" and the stormy "Too Much Pride." In February 2020, he teamed with storied Louisiana rapper Boosie Badazz for the collaborative mixtape Badazz MO3. The project quickly entered the Billboard 200 chart at number 136.
Noble was shot and killed on November 11, 2020. While being pursued by another vehicle as he was driving on Interstate 35 in Dallas, he crashed on the side of the road and attempted to flee on foot before an unidentified gunman shot him in the back of the head.
Prosecutors allege that MO3 was killed in a murder-for-hire plot orchestrated by fellow Dallas rapper Yella Beezy (Markies Conway). As of early 2026, several suspects have been charged and are awaiting trial
Kewon Dontrell White: Identified by police as the gunman who ambushed and shot MO3 on Interstate 35E. He was arrested in December 2020 and is currently serving a nine-year federal prison sentence for an unrelated gun charge. His murder trial was recently delayed in January 2026.
Yella Beezy (Markies Conway): Indicted in March 2025 on capital murder-for-hire charges. Prosecutors allege he paid White to carry out the killing due to an ongoing rivalry. After being released on a $750,000 bond, he is currently under house arrest. His trial was postponed in early 2026 and is now set to begin on August 24, 2026.
Devin Maurice Brown: Indicted alongside the others and accused of being involved in the conspiracy. His specific role remains under investigation, though police cited numerous calls between him and White around the time of the shooting. He was scheduled to stand trial in November 2025
