There are at least three artists with this name: 1) MEG, a Japanese electropop singer. 2) Meg (Maria Di Donna), former 99 Posse singer, musician, producer and solo artist. 3) Meg, an American freestyle/dance singer. 4) meg, a Japanese jazz singer.


1) Keiko Yorichika (頼近恵子), better known by her stage name MEG (メグ), born October 3, 1980 in Chiyoda, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese singer-songwriter, composer, fashion designer, and model. Initially an indies musician when she debuted in 2001, MEG became a prominent artist with her fashion label CAROLINA GLASER and her musical collaborations with Japanese electronic producer Yasutaka Nakata (中田ヤスタカ) of capsule, with whom she first collaborated with in 2006.

MEG's first introduction to music was through the piano, which she has played since childhood. At the age of 20, she auditioned for an indie record company, BURGER INN RECORDS, singing "It's Gonna Rain!," and passed. She made her indie debut on November 28, 2001 with 傘としずく ("Kaza to Shizuku"), known as simply meg. This was also around the time MEG started modeling for magazines like CUTIE and Non-no.

On July 10, 2002 MEG made her major label debut with the single スキャンティ ブルース ("scanty blues"), produced by Okamura Yasuyuki, on the label DREAMMACHINE (a label on Warner Music Japan). Her second single was a double a-side; one track was the cover song イケナイコトカイ ("Ikenai Koto Kai"), and it was coupled with her indie song "Kasa to Shizuku." However, it is rumored that Okamura quit producing MEG after this single due to her attitude. But this didn't hinder MEG as she released two more singles (光露 ("Kouro") and "GROOVE TUBE") along with her debut major album, room girl.

In July of 2004, MEG created a clothing line for the store klein mart TOKYO called cheryl. There was only one release in 2004, the single "STEREO04" which was released instead by the indie label LSN Records. Developing her brand took most of her time in 2005 as it was quieter with music releases.

In January of 2006, she began to go by MEG, and in February she changed the name of her clothing line from cheryl to Carolina Glaser by cheryl. MEG then released two singles, "ROCKSTAR" and "DAWN," along with her second album Dithyrambos, all through SHAMPOO NINE RECORDS (her own indie label). A remix on Dithyrambos marks her first work with 中田ヤスタカ (Nakata Yasutaka).

In early 2007, Hiroshi Nakamura (i-dep) collaborated with and produced MEG's first mini album, aquaberry. This was released through AZ tribe (on RAINBOW ENTERTAINMENT). Her ninth single, 甘い贅沢 ("Amai Zeitaku"), was released through SHAMPOO NINE RECORDS on May 30 and was the first to be produced by Nakata Yasutaka. Her second single "OK" was her second major debut single after being signed to Universal Music Japan. The release of the album BEAM two months later was her first album to be produced by Nakata. In 2008, she released "MAGIC" and "HEART," which were included a short six months later on her fourth album, STEP.

MEG has also collaborated with Hadouken! on her single, "FREAK," and released her fifth album, BEAUTIFUL. She released another mini album, Journey, on August 26, 2009, which was produced by The Shanghai Restoration Project. MEG released her seventh full-length album, Maverick, on June 23, 2010 featuring the single "SECRET ADVENTURE" (the b-side "GRAY" would become an a-side as it was also featured on MAVERICK).

In July 2010, MEG would inform fans through her blog that she would be leaving Universal Music Japan and traveling to Paris for a break. She then released a double a-side single "PASSPORT/PARIS" on August 25, 2010 and a best album BEST FLIGHT on September 29, 2010, which would be her final release through Universal Japan. The Terminal A version of the album, which was limited, came with a t-shirt made by MEG and a DVD that includes the music videos for "PARIS" and "SECRET ADVENTURE," while Terminal B comes with a bonus CD containing acoustic arrangements of five songs and eight remixes.

In 2011, MEG returned to Warner Music via the newly launched Unborde Records and starting June 20, she began releasing monthly digital singles exclusively through the French iTunes store.

In 2012, MEG signed to Starchild Records (a label on King Records, now defunct) and released 2 albums: LA JAPONAISE, which features all of her singles released for the French iTunes store, WEAR I AM, that features the singles TRAP (a collaboration with Yasuyuki Okamura), and other collaborations with many artists, such as Yasuharu Konishi, Taku Takahashi from m-flo, and many more.

In 2013, MEG released CONTINUE, which has an RPG concept.

Her most recent activity in music was in 2020, with STAY WITH ME starring MEG, a collaboration with RAM RIDER.
Although she is now focused on her cosmetic brands "baw" and "ply", she is now signed with King Records' Evil Line Records, after the dissolution of Starchild. She's also under the Asobi System company.

2) Meg, pseudonimo di Maria Di Donna (Napoli, 20 settembre 1972), è una cantautrice e produttrice discografica italiana.

Con i 99 Posse partecipa alla realizzazione di Guai a chi ci tocca (1995) con i Bisca, di Cerco tiempo (disco d'oro nel 1996) e di Corto circuito (oltre 160 000 copie vendute nel 1998) La Vida Que Vendrà (2000).

Sono anche gli anni in cui collabora con Almamegretta, Speaker Cenzou e Mad Professor.

Nel 2001 esce Na 99-10°, l'ultimo disco di inediti della band con Meg in formazione. La band si scioglierà ufficialmente nel 2005 per poi riunirsi nel 2009, ma senza Meg. In un'intervista, la cantante dichiara che non considera chiusa definitivamente l'esperienza e che le dichiarazioni di 'O Zulù, pur essendo certamente rispettabili, erano probabilmente più un sentimento personale che del gruppo.

Nel 2001 Meg, con Marco Messina, dà vita al progetto Nous. Nasce anche l'album La tempesta, disco e colonna sonora dal vivo dello spettacolo teatrale Dentro la tempesta, adattamento del regista Giancarlo Cauteruccio e del suo gruppo Krypton de La tempesta di William Shakespeare. Meg è Ariel, lo spiritello dell'aria imprigionato dalla strega Sycorax e infine liberato dalla magia bianca di Prospero.

Meg è anche sul palco con Marco Messina e il contrabbassista Alessandro Quintavalle per uno spettacolo di commistioni con la musica elettronica.

Crea anche un'etichetta discografica, la Multiformis: una parola tratta dalle Memorie di Adriano di Marguerite Yourcenar: Varius Multiplex Multiformis. Da questo momento le strade di Meg e degli altri membri dei 99 Posse prendono direzioni diverse e sempre più distanti tra loro.

Nel 2003 registra una sua versione del brano di Atahualpa Yupanqui "los hermanos" per i titoli di coda del film "Ora o mai più" regia di Lucio Pellegrini.

L'8 ottobre 2004 esce nei negozi il singolo Simbiosi, prima traccia del debutto solista della cantante. Contiene, oltre alla album version, due remix: uno di Marco Messina, manipolatore elettronico della 99 Posse, l'altro dei Technophonic Chamber Orchestra. Poco dopo esce l'album, intitolato semplicemente Meg. Vengono anche realizzato il videoclip del brano Parole alate (diretto da Umberto Nicoletti).

Lo stesso anno Meg partecipa con il brano Parole alate a GE2001, compilation nata per raccogliere fondi per finanziare la Segreteria Legale del Genoa Social Forum, impegnata nei processi intentati dopo i fatti del luglio 2001 al G8 di Genova.

Meg inoltre partecipa a manifestazioni internazionali con i The Chemical Brothers, i Garbage e Snoop Dogg. Recita nel progetto Tree'r Us, il film prodotto da Spike Lee e girato dal regista napoletano Luca Curto, a cui prendono parte tra gli altri anche Raiz e Caparezza.

Nel 2006 partecipa alla compilation ConGarbo, album tributo a Garbo, realizzando la cover del brano Up the line insieme agli Zu.

All'inizio del 2007 registra il suo secondo disco, la cui produzione viene affidata al produttore e deejay Stefano Fontana aka Stylophonic. Nel frattempo è coautrice del brano Piombo dei Subsonica, presente nel disco L'eclissi.

Il 7 aprile 2008 viene pubblicato il video di Distante, primo singolo estratto dal secondo album di Meg, intitolato Psychodelice (Multiformis/Distribuzione Self) e pubblicato pochi giorni dopo. L'album si classifica al primo posto nella classifica degli album indipendenti. In settembre viene diffuso il video del secondo singolo È troppo facile (regia di Umberto Nicoletti e Francesco Meneghini).

Nell'ottobre dello stesso anno viene premiata a Bologna come "Migliore artista indipendente".

Nel gennaio 2009 si esibisce all'Eurosonic di Groninga (Paesi Bassi) e nella trasmissione televisiva Parla con me (Rai 3). Nel 2009 e 2010 propone un tour con il trio Phone Jones, in cui la musica del concerto è prodotta esclusivamente dagli iPhone.

Nel 2012, collabora con Colapesce pubblicando il singolo Satellite (inserito poi nella versione deluxe di Un meraviglioso declino). Del brano verrà realizzato anche un videoclip, diretto da Francesco Meneghini and Umberto Nicoletti. Collabora anche con gli Analog People In A Digital World in Tattoo Girl.

Il 27 novembre 2012 pubblica il singolo Promemoria insieme ad un videoclip diretto da Umberto Nicoletti.

Nel gennaio-febbraio 2013 intraprende un tour di 8 date chiamato Bipolare Tour con Colapesce, accompagnati da Alessandro Quintavalle e Mario Conte. Sempre nel 2013 collabora con Clementino nella canzone che dà il nome all'album Mea culpa, pubblicato il 28 maggio. Nell'aprile 2013 pubblica il video di Il confine tra me e te (regia di Umberto Nicoletti, guest star Elio Germano). Nel giugno 2013 pubblica su iTunes due EP di remix, uno di Promemoria e l'altro di Il confine tra me e te, a cui partecipano 15 artisti in totale tra cui Iori's Eyes e M+A. Nel mese di ottobre pubblica il video del brano Estate (cover di Bruno Martino), diretto da Davide Tosco.

Nel marzo 2015 pubblica il singolo Imperfezione, che segna il suo ritorno sulle scene e che anticipa l'album chiamato anch'esso Imperfezione, pubblicato il 21 aprile seguente.

Dopo il disco dal vivo Concerto ImPerfetto del 2018, nel 2022 annuncia il ritorno sulle scene con un live al MI AMI Festival di Milano e l'uscita del nuovo singolo Non Ti Nascondere, co-prodotto con Frenetico.


3) Meg is an American freestyle/dance singer, she released one album titled "Lover Girl" in 1991. Four singles were taken from it, and later, another song, titled "The Music", was released on its own.

4) Kobayashi Megumi (小林恵), also known by the stage name meg, is a Japanese jazz artist. She previously had a career as an actress in the 1990s, and released several pop singles and an album under her full name. She debuted professionally as a jazz performer in April 2006 with a cover of "Where I Want To Be", and released three studio albums between 2007 and 2009.
