
Chad Thomas (born October 12, 1995), known professionally as Major Nine, is an American rapper, producer, and former NFL player from Miami, Florida. Growing up in the Liberty City neighborhood, his family emphasized the importance of both music and sports, and he learned to play nine instruments, including the piano, trombone, trumpet, and tuba. His talent as a producer emerged early, co-writing and producing Rick Ross’s 2017 single “Apple of My Eye,” featuring Raphael Saadiq. He also excelled at football, playing defensive end for the University of Miami Hurricanes before being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2018.
During his football career, he released mixtapes such as Big Tape (2018) and Lil Tape II (2019).
After leaving the NFL in 2020, Major Nine released multiple projects in quick succession, including Unconditional, Chizzim Tape, and No Pain, No Glory, followed by nearly yearly releases such as Real City Baby (2022), Nothin Major (2023), and Kardiology (2024).
