At the turn of the millenium, when everyone else was preoccupied with apocalyptic ideas, four musicians conceived a musical project. The artists Twang, Sickwon, Contact, and Schulberg’s various musical influences created an exciting and genre-overlapping sonic structure. This became the basis of their work together.
After releasing their first album, Pappatrappen (2005), they remixed these tracks while performing them in numerous venues in Austria the last couple of years.
In 2008, Linkmen return with a new album. Over the past year, 16 tracks have been meticulously worked on. The outcome: Needles And Puppets.

„Needles And Puppets” is a blend of narrative sound textures and snappy beatscapes that evolve into an exciting and innovative acoustic arrangement brimming with crackling beauty and vibrant intensity. The boundaries between electronica, broken beats, drum’n’bass, hiphop, and turntablism become blurred. Meshing sonic signals result in a nebular jungle of dark and liquid sounds.
A crossfire of twisted rhythms and melodies creates catchy tunes of a different kind. Hypnotic pads and mystical chords tell a subliminal story that is supported by carefully chosen cuts, word samples and vocal contributions.
Several beat producers like DeeAit, Yak, 7imet4, top-class turntablist Dj Crum and an impressive rapper named Raptoar are featured.
The varied Austrian quartet including Twang, Contact, Schulberg, and Sickwon presents an album full of atmosphere that has a chill factor to it, but at the same time can also be danced to.
