Lebaoth was a soloproject from Finland. During its history beginning from the first experimental recordings of 1999, under various names, it evolved into a primitively lo-fi dark metal project, primarily influenced by black metal. Secondary influences include ambient (Ainiaan), doom metal (Portin äärellä) and even neofolk (Kuolinlaulu II) and noise (Hukkuminen). Thematically the project was a "side personality outlet", a means to channel destructive negativity into creation, with lyrics (all written in Finnish) dealing mostly with hate, alienation, melancholy and depression.
A compilation entitled "Vihan vuosikymmen 1999-2009" ("A decade of hate 1999-2009") was finalised in 2009, documenting the last and most creative five years of the project and closing the ten-year circle. The compilation was released for free download and is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share alike 3.0 license.
