Leaf Hound

Leaf Hound is a blues and hard rock band formed in 1969 in London, UK. The band originated from an earlier group called Black Cat Bones. Early members of Black Cat Bones included guitarist Paul Kossoff and drummer Simon Kirke, who later left to form the band Free. Black Cat Bones released one album titled "Barbed Wire Sandwich" through Decca Records. After this release, the band replaced their vocalist and added Peter French. Guitarist Rod Price left the group to join Foghat, and French brought in his cousin Mick Halls as a guitarist. The band then changed its name to Leaf Hound.

The lineup at this point included Peter French on vocals, Mick Halls on guitar, Derek Brooks on guitar, Stuart Brooks on drums, and Keith George-Young on bass. In 1970, Leaf Hound recorded the album "Growers of Mushroom" at Spot Studios in Mayfair, London. Following this, the Brooks brothers left the band and were replaced by Ron Thomas on bass. Leaf Hound toured Europe as a four-piece and released the single "Drowned My Life in Fear" as well as a self-titled album in Germany on the Telefunken label. The "Growers of Mushroom" album was also released shortly thereafter, containing the same tracks as the self-titled album.

Peter French left the band to join Atomic Rooster for their album "In Hearing of," and later joined the American hard rock band Cactus.

In 2004, Peter French reformed Leaf Hound. In 2006, the band released a limited 7-inch record on Rise Above Records featuring a live version of the song "Freelance Fiend," recorded in Soho, London in 2005. The band's most recent album, "Unleashed," was released in 2007.

The current lineup consists of Peter French (vocals), Luke Rayner (guitar), Ed Pearson (bass), and Jimmy Rowland (drums). In 2011, Leaf Hound performed a 40th anniversary concert in London to celebrate the release of their debut album.
