Lamp Post is the project of a young man from the pacific northwest. Utilizing unique guitar techniques, multiple instruments, slam poetry and dense lyrical themes, Lamp Post stands far from the typical singer song-writer music. The lyrics are highly personal, confessional and emotive. They tend to be written about self-examination, personal philosophies, death, politics, and in-depth studies of society and its most taboo or controversial topics. Though Phil Elvrum (The Microphones, Mount Eerie) is cited as probably the most significant influence, Orchid is his favorite band and he draws inspiration from a wide variety of music. From Modest Mouse and Nirvana to Godspeed and Gregor Samsa, and even from the more abrasive sounds of Drive like Jehu, Charles Bronson, Converge, Black Flag, Circle Takes The Square and Portraits of Past.
