Artist Detailed Info: Knats

Knats is a British jazz quintet led by two lifelong best mates from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Stan Woodward (bass) and King David-Ike Elechi (drums), alongside trumpeter, Ferg Kilsby, They are joined by George Johnson (saxophone) and Sandro Shar (piano).

King David-Ike Elechi (drums) and Stan Woodward (bass) met as teenagers at school in Newcastle and started playing rock covers together before eventually starting to play reggae and jazz. They moved to London around 2022 to study jazz at Trinity Laban and online met Ferg Kilsby (trumpet), who is also from Newcastle.

The band released their eponymous debut album in 2025. Their second album A Great Day Out in Newcastle was released in 2026 and is nominated for the 2026 Mercury Prize.
