Kabouter have 8 ears and 40 fingers. They like the smell of freshly laid tarmac, and enjoy pointing at things with their middle fingers, DJ - ing in their birthday suits and dreaming about snakes and treacle sponge.
Before Kabouter (B.K.), individually they stamped around in their own dusky wildernesses, being kicked in the nuts by wild zebras, getting marbles stuck up their nose, feeding crayons to rats, being abducted by strangers and having an irrational and morbid fear of hairdressers. Realising that there was safety in numbers, they lashed themselves together using elastic bands and sticky tape and faced the awkward silences and excessive bowel movements as a monoclonal monocracy.
Occasionally, they still mistakenly eat cat food and get stung by Vespula vulgaris whilst in the act of playing doctors and nurses, but in general the world is a little shinier and a little less wobbly.
It all started started as a collection of demos recorded in a bedroom in London-town in 2007 by Eckard. Upon his return to sunny Cape Town, Eckard hooked up with Morgan and the two started toiling together on the ideas and squidging them in to what would eventually become Kabouter. Next step… Talbot auditioned as a skin tapper and his tap was true... after many operatic audition disasters, they stumbled upon lost Brit, Aylen who could hold a note or two. Kabouter was now officially a band of brothers. With an emphasis on keeping the music interesting and progressive, Kabouter have now begun to play live shows including at Purple Turtle and Zula bar as well as The Assembly with the likes of Van Coke Kartel and The City Bowl Mizers. Much fun was had by all. More recently in Bellville Studios with producer Charlie Murder, the band are finishing recording their 3 track EP. Kabouter time! Hot WAX!
