Artist Detailed Info: Jeepneys

Jeepneys is a multimedia music project of Anna Luisa Petrisko, an Oakland-based artist. She self-released her own tape "Beep Beep" in 2010, telling tales of ancestor beings crossing and re-crossing borders of the unknown. Jeepneys is their ship.

Jeepneys' remarkable music bridges the terrain between spiritual jazz, tabletop garage and tapdance aerobics.Petrisko, who studied violin with the Sun Ra Violinist India Cooke, plays (and sings into) electrified violin, toy piano and portable tapdance floor, while friends join in on bass and nylon harp. Her vinyl debut was a "Lats Yerk" 7" single released in 2011 by Human Ear Music, and it's accompanied by a video filled with fluorescent spirit animals and ray gun beams.
