Jack’s main instrument is the six string bass guitar. Influences of film, travel, nature, literature, activism, philosophy, psychology, sociology, comedy and jazz-funk grooveology. Jack is a musician that has traveled and lived all over the world working with various bands, educational institutions and projects.
Being a bass player in jazz and pop bands Jack found himself wanting more room to express his ideas about music and where it could be going so he started Playback in 2002 as a way to experiment with traditional form and modern styles emerging. Trying to keep the public, musicians and the band it's self happy is a continuous yet enjoyable struggle and way to help us all grow regardless of taste or style.
Improvising and recording live is one way to explain what the band is about. Finding the groove and sitting on it or being "in the pocket" is something we all love to experience and feel and Playback constantly searches for this honest place.
Miles Davis believed that he and all musicians are responsible for pushing music into the future and must do so for it to evolve. Now based in Cape Town the two member band is excited to grow, gig and get involved.
His first album "STOP" is a selection of 12 songs produced by bassist Jack Casey over the span of 12 years. Produced, engineered, recorded and mastered by Jack Casey
