Inga Nova

Inga Nova was born in the South, the last of five children of Texas native parents. Growing up she was infused with the roots music of the South as well as the mainstream and underground music of the sixties and seventies.

“I picked up the guitar in 1974 and wrote my first song about six months later. I have had many a hiatus from my music throughout the years, but I always return home like a long lost migratory bird. Music has always been a survival tool for me, both in my own, and in others. Every song I write reflects some instance or aspect of my life and relieve my own emotional pressure valve.”

From an Navy family, Inga had the opportunity to develop her musical self from coast to coast and stop all in between. Her influences are as broad as the miles she’s traveled. They include greats such as Beatles, Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Van Morrison, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan and Bonnie Raitt.

The diversity of her influences also includes Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Guy Clark, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Graham Parsons, Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker.

Inga has spent most of the last three decades at home in the Pacific Northwest, actively enjoying the local music culture that surrounds the Seattle area. Today, she is enjoying the rich local music scene of Northern Idaho, where she lives near her daughter and grandchildren.
