Artist Detailed Info: Imploded

IMPLODED is actually a duet of Nikita «Tjalvi» Valamin (vocals, keyboards, sound engineering) and Sergey «GM» Valerianov (guitars), helped by fellow musicians.
The band was born in St. Petersburg in spring 2007, when songwriter, singer and keyboard player Nikita «Tjalvi» Valamin, searching for a new guitarist for his power-metal band ICEBLADE, met Sergey «GM» Valerianov. GM turned out to be a songwriter as well, so in a few months ICEBLADE was no more, and Tjalvi and GM started a new band, playing progressive rock or something like that. In September 2007 they were joined by a drummer Artem Zatsepin and started rehearsing the songs with him. It was the time to call the band somehow, so the guys named themselves CASTAWAY. For about half a year they played three together, desperately searching for a bassist and a second guitarist, after it an incredible number of bassists were coming and going away. In 2007 a lead-guitarist Mikhail Starostin agreed to be helping the band with the guitar solos in the records and during the live gigs.
In September 2008 there was enough material ready for recording, and there was a kind of a steady line up: Tjalvi - vocals and keyboards, GM - guitars, Artem Zatsepin - drums, Mikhail Starostin - guitars, and Nikolai «Don Beretta» Balandin on bass. In October the drums were recorded for the debut album in the CONTACT studio (St. Petersburg) in the university where Tjalvi was studying. He was the sound engineer himself. Everything seemed to be going fine, the drums where recorded, Tjalvi started preparing the drum tracks for the recording of other instruments, the band received an offer to play a live gig and was preparing for it, but in this very moment the hassle between the band members and Artem Zatsepin, who turned out to be quite a difficult man to work with, reached its boiling-point, and Artem left the band.
Of course, it lead to a break in the band’s activity. Till Spring the band was searching for a new drummer, but in vain, and in the beginning of Summer the reunion with Artem occured. Also, Don Beretta left the band and Alexei Seliannin took his place. In june 2009 the band played a live gig and went on the summer vacation. In august 2009 they gather together again, but Artem refuses to attend the rehearsals, and the band (which was always Tjalvi and GM actually) decides to stop working with him again.
During the work on the record, Tjalvi found out that CASTAWAY band already exists, so the band name was changed to IMPLODED.
