HighQ was the solo vessel of Sacramento native Barry McDaniel, known locally for his role as guitarist in Gentleman Surfer and Practice.

Debut EP "Time Pieces" (2010) features Barry on every instrument performed minus a couple small contributions from fellow Tubetungs members Jay Souza and Justin Butler (Also of Ideateam. All recordings were made on tape using a Yamaha 8-track.

A lineup was assembled for live performances in 2011 which included Barry McDaniel (guitar), Devin Grant (Buff Clout, drums), John Mal (EX-HEIR, bass), and Zack Bissell, guitar).

The second EP, "Hold" was released May 2012 and third EP "Be Side" later the same year. Future releases were done under the name Means (Not to be confused with the metalcore band).
