Gray Code

There are two musical groups known as Gray Code:

1. An electro-acoustic improvisation quintet active in the US in 1999-2000.
2. A Netherlands rock band started in 2005.

1.

Formed in 1999, Washington DC based Gray Code contained anywhere between three and five members who gathered together as an improvising ensemble performing around the mid-atlantic region of the US (DC, Maryland, Virginia, NYC, NJ, Boston). The band’s representative label is Metatron Press, with archived recordings at http://www.archive.org/details/metatron-press.

The group’s roster included the vocal trio Comma (Matt Davis (aka Craque), Tom Bickley, Joe Zitt) alongside percussionist Brian Fending and guitarist/looper Jon Matis.

Ranging from structured ensemble pieces to completely free improvised electro-acoustic music, their instrumentation included everything from hand percussion and voices to laptops and traditional instruments from other cultures.

2.

Gray Code is a rock band formed in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands in 2005.
Four guys with a big passion for music, influenced by world's biggest bands like Oasis, Radiohead and the Peppers, but also by small local bands. The band members have different influences, but try to find a way to combine these styles to one own sound.
After they won their first talent show in 2006 they recorded their first demo.
In the start of 2008 their new demo, called New Dawn was released. With this EP they try to play as much shows as possible to promote the band.
