Dodi

Dodi (Joel Emboy) is a Filipino songwriter and composer creating emotionally driven music shaped by memory, distance, and unresolved moments.

Influenced by alternative rock and post-grunge acts such as Collective Soul, Dishwalla, Goo Goo Dolls, Vertical Horizon, Staind, and Alter Bridge, his sound is built on heavy bass movement, raw guitar textures, and melancholic melodic space.

His introduction to songwriting began through a friend’s musical world of ethno-tribal rock and contemporary indigenous music fused with heavy metal and alternative rock. From this shared foundation, he discovered the emotional power of chord-driven composition and began developing his own voice as a songwriter.

He started writing songs in the early 2000s, with early works remaining unreleased and later recorded as demo tracks. Although these early projects were never formally released due to the absence of a full band, they became the foundation of an evolving body of work shaped by longing, memory, distance, and quiet reflection.

His music captures what lingers after moments fade—fading connections, emotional echoes, and the quiet spaces left behind. Rather than resolving emotion, his work exists within it: suspended, unfinished, and honest in its incompleteness.

With the help of modern digital tools, he continues to transform original ideas into full arrangements, bringing unfinished emotions to life through sound while preserving their original intent.
