Digital Space is Joe Schaeffer who began writing music at the age of 16. He began working with punk and ska and then decided to make the change over to electronic music after a few years for more creativity and control over composition. He always had a great interest in electronic music and it's creation and began experimenting with early synthesizers before actually writing music . Some of his earliest influences were Depeche Mode and other electronic acts of the 80's. During his high school years he discovered industrial and eventually house and trance. In 1997 he had been working on music that was a hybrid of electro and trance. He then was introduced to the underground party scene. At underground parties he was introduced to new sounds and styles of music. "The loud music and positive atmosphere had a big influence on me. I frequently began to go to parties to get new ideas fo my music." In 1999 he released "Beginnings," a collection of trance and ambient songs from 1997-1999. Shortly after the release of "Beginnings" Joe began DJing trance and house tracks. In 2001, Digital Space released his second album, "The Second Coming," a journey through the sounds of trance and drum 'n' bass. After and during this release, his DJ sound began shifting from trance to progressive. Digital Space now DJs and creates tribal progressive and psytrance.
Joe has also recently been working on a side project "Nov-Sanus" for psydowntempo and midtempo tracks. The debut Nov-Sanus album is now complete and will be release in 2009.
His third full length album (Life Cycle) will be released in 2009 and will feature the sounds of psytrance and psybreaks.
