1) Deviant was a five-piece Rap Metal band from Ames, Iowa, active from 1998 to 2000. Coming from the Midwest, Deviant incorporated key ingredients of frustration & alienation to fuel their blend of Rap & Metal.

The band's formation began in mid-1998 with Travis "Troj" Brown & Jeremy "Quinn-Dogg" Kaiser, who met while living in the dorms at Iowa State University. After discovering that they shared similar musical interests, Kaiser eventually moved in with Brown, set up his drums in their dorm room, & the two began jamming together. John "Johnny-O" Ohlfest was then added on rhythm guitar. After moving off campus, the group began holding auditions for a lead guitarist & vocalist. Landon Burg joined on lead guitar after impressing the band with his playing, while Curt Daniels became the final member of the lineup. Daniels immediately made an impression during his audition by rolling around, flipping all over the place, & breaking stuff. The completed lineup consisted of Daniels on vocals, Ohlfest on rhythm guitar, Burg on lead guitar, Brown on bass, & Kaiser on drums.

By early 1999, Deviant had begun establishing itself within the Iowa scene. The band became known for an aggressive live performance & described its sound as "an original blend of metal & hip-hop," drawing from a range of Metal & Rap influences. Deviant played throughout Iowa & the Midwest, sharing bills with numerous local & regional acts, including 35 Inch Mudder, Deadfront, Smakdab, Painface, Krete, Heroic Dose, Blister Burn, Index Case, American Head Charge, Nothing, GodKillGod, Grubby Ernie, Mr. Plow, & others. Although based in Ames, the band developed a particularly strong following in Des Moines.

Throughout 1999, Deviant developed material for its debut release, Chapter 1: Bag of Trikz. By late September, the band was preparing to enter the studio, eventually recording the release during a single-day session at SR Audio with Matt Sepanic. Despite lead guitarist Landon Burg being sick during the session, the band pushed through the recording in one day. The release was produced by Deviant & Sepanic, with Cory Brown of 35 Inch Mudder later handling mixing & mastering. Brown also helped Deviant behind the scenes with booking shows, merchandise, & connections within the local scene.

Chapter 1: Bag of Trikz was released on February 5, 2000, accompanied by a CD release party at People's Bar & Grill in Ames with 35 Inch Mudder, American Head Charge, & Mr. Plow. By that point, Deviant had gone from a newly assembled college band to an established part of the central Iowa scene in little more than a year. The band continued performing throughout 2000 before eventually coming to an end later that year.

2) DEVIANT from Denver, CO USA. The meshing of rock guitar riffs, electronic melodies, and driving industrial drums were the initial factors behind the building of the electro-rock trio, Deviant.

Formed in 2002 by vocalist/lyricist London, multi-talented musicians D' MacKinnon and Marcus "Daisho" Wilkerson, Deviant immediately garnered a local following in Denver after their first live performances and album release. Deviant successfully merged the modern sounds of electronic music with accessable songwriting and emotional lyrical content. Their first release, Absenta, received critical praise from the national underground scene, college radio, and club DJs. Deviant won three awards at the 2003 Colorado Underground Music Awards including "Best New Band". Tracks off have Absenta have also been featured in films such as Throttle and on several compilation albums. In 2006 Deviant was nominated for the Westword Music Showcase.

Deviant spent most of 2003 performing shows to support the release of Absenta. In 2004 the members focused their efforts on side projects, remixing and production work.

Deviant returned to the recording studio in early 2005 to write a new material. In 2006 the Westword nominated Deviant for their annual awards in the "Gothic/Industrial" category.

3) DEVIANT was formed in early 2002 by Johan, EB and Magnus in Uppsala, Sweden. The band's goal musical-wise from the very start was to play furious, hateful death metal with elements from old school swedish death, "new school" death metal and grindcore. The local madman Alx joined the band to do the vokills and a bassplayer joined shortly before being 'lifted from duties'. Some live shows were executed before the debut demo was recorded in August of 2003.

The debut demo, simply entitled Deviant was unleashed in November 2003 and led to a deal with the Italian label The Spew Records in early 2004. During 2004, the band spent the first half of the year playing shows and planning the debut album. Erik joined on bass in January. The second half of the year was spent writing material for what was to become Larvaeon. Erik left the band in October. The debut album, "Larvaeon", was recorded during December and early January '04/'05 in EAR Studios (where also the demo was recorded). Fredrik filled in on the bass spot after the recording and was publicly announced in March of '05. The band continued spreading their hate in 2005 by doing various live shows and recording a MCD called "Apathyphus" with three new songs and a cover of Nasum's "Inhale/Exhale".
