Artist Detailed Info: Cryptic Union

Cryptic Union is a local metal band with their roots in the Chicago area. They have have six members in their band. John Gagen is the band’s bass player and formed the band in early 2005 with peer Paul Birhanu who is currently drumming for Cryptic Union. The two recruited guitarist of Screams of Winter Max Damske. He contributed his powerful rhythms and the complexities of his writing into the band. Then the band finally recruited guitarist Jack Huffman for lead guitar. Huffman was a unique player who was fast on the fretboard and had a knack for extreme gayness. The band wrote a few songs together and released a small EP called The Hangman EP. The songs included classics such as Jokes On You, Hangman, and Since U Been Gone. But something was missing from the band. Although all four were extremely talented in their own fields they were lacking popularity, good looks, and heterosexuality. That’s when the band recruited lead singer Brendan Conway, formely in the band Zombie Holocaust. Conway was a versatile singer that extended the band’s potential further than it had ever been. The band also recruited guitarist Ashwin Torke of Common Enemy and Hepatitis B. Torke was a talented player who added even more complexities to the Union’s Songs. The six members were ready to go into the studio and write. The band finally recorded another short EP called State Of The Union. Their new songs are aggresive, heavy and enough metal to blow your head Up!!! Their live shows have been notoriously outrageous and spectacular. Cryptic Union is currently on a Scandinavian tour and plan to return to the U.S. for a North American tour. Watch out and Rock out with Cryptic Union!!!
