Chromoscience - Cape Town Music’s Jazz Hop Rockers!

Chromoscience emerged several years ago in their own right, after a stint as the then Max Normal backing band and have found a natural home in the sSHADOWORKSs stable. In the mean-time, they have kept a potent, if not relatively low profile and presence on the Cape Town music and Cape Town electronic scene, being dubbed “the lowest profile high profile band in Cape Town”.

Their concerts to date have seen them entertain a wide spectrum of audiences; from dimly-lit, urban culture club settings of street bars playing to a mixture of hip hop heads and rockers to the pomp and ceremony of glossy corporate awards ceremonies (The Loerie Awards and Design Indaba), Chromoscience always rock the party and know just how to bring it, testimony to the professional backgrounds of the three musicians that make up Chromoscience.

Band members Mark Buchanan (guitar/bass/samples) and Sean Ou Tim a.k.a. Mr. Sakitumi (bass/drums/keys/samples), have rolling careers spanning at least 10 years in the depths of various music disciplines like jazz, funk, blues and rock and more recently hip hop rap and electronica. And both appearing in more bands than even they can remember. Third member Sibot (turntables, samples), of ] The Real Estate Agents fame, is no less prolific a skilled and well-known musician who brings his particular urban feeling to the outfit; an unmistakable funk that completes the Chromoscience unit.
