Beth Kaysin

Born in the Western Cape, grown in Johannesburg, Beth Kaysin has always had her part in the study and creation of music. As a little girl she started taking classical piano lessons and later also mastered the guitar. She started writing songs when she was eight and joined a few bands in High School under which Dazed is probably the one she’ll admit to having been the lead vocalist in. By the end of High School Dazed was giving performances all over Melville and its surrounding areas.

After school she finished her degree in Languages and Culture at the University of Stellenbosch, whilst keeping busy with the music at a moderate pace. She played solo at a few clubs and coffee shops in town and later put together her band Endorphin (as lead vocalist, guitarist and composer). They played some gigs in the surrounding area as well as the Eastern Cape.

In 2006 she started working on her debut album with producer Gerhard Roux along with musicians Henry Steel (Guitar), Eben Groenewaldt(Drums) and Ignatius Kloppers(Bass). Her new album, Storm Q, has been released under Creative Commons and can be downloaded for free on this website!!! This unusual step in the distribution of music is a conscious outset of a re-evaluated philosophical ideology towards the industry of music. We can see this ideology reflected in the sentiments and spirit of her work and attitude towards life.
