Authors

There are at least 3 bands with the name Authors:

1. Bittersweet, frantic yet smooth, two minute anthemic bursts neatly sums up Toronto four piece Authors. While the name may appear new, the band is not, known since the summer of 2006 and until recently as The Smile. Initially a side project of Akroid drummer Jason Galbraith, Authors crept into priority over the fall and winter of 2008. Authors successfully smashes the tricky catchiness of early 90's FAT style punk into angular and mathematical mid 90s post-hardcore. Live and recorded, Authors seamlessly seals the deal ushering in a whole new era and style.

Now writing as a group, and playing live with much more frequency, the transition from The Smile to Authors has been drumming up a fair bit of attention locally and abroad. The spread being the sole product of word-of-mouth via live performance and the web. The blending of creative structure, off kilter melody and edgy, odd meter hooks delivered in an incredibly frantic and passionate manner is making waves.

At he moment Authors is hard at work on a new batch of material, gigging like crazy and booking Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes for the months ahead.

2. Authors was a progressive post-hardcore band from Orlando, Florida, United States. The guys released a 3 song self-titled EP in 2011 recorded at Earthsound with Lee Dyess in Valdosta, Georgia, United States.

Bio from their Myspace in 2011:
"Author (noun) - the person who originates or gives existence to anything. Coming together in the Fall of 2010, the members of Authors spent the first 6 months of the band's existence behind their computers, rather than in a practice space. With members living in Boston, Chicago, and Florida, they were collaborating their musical ideas through email and countless home demos. In January, the members gathered in Valdosta, Georgia to record with Producer/Engineer Lee Dyess (Mayday Parade, From First To Last). This was the first time some of them have ever met in person and a first for all of them to finally hear their musical creations come to life. Authors has captured a sound that blends heavy guitars reminiscent of bands like Underoath and Misery Signals, with the ambiance and ear catching vocals of Circa Survive. With their debut three song EP scheduled to release on iTunes this February, Authors is ready to make a swift and forceful entrance into the music scene."
