As the clamour of generic, derivative, and largely uninspired dubstep becomes ever more deafening, producers with one foot firmly in the real roots of dubstep - experimentalism and minimalism - are too often struggling to have their voices heard. SUBS' productions, often sparse, subtle, stripped bare, could rarely be coined "dance music".
