Schavot, meaning "scaffold" in Dutch, is a black metal solo project from Venray, Limburg, Netherlands, founded in 2021 by multi-instrumentalist Floris Velthuis. Born out of a wave of nostalgia for the Scandinavian second-wave black metal of the 1990s, Schavot emerged during the COVID-19 lockdowns when Floris, already active in bands like Asgrauw, Meslamtaea, and Sagenland, found time to channel his love for the genre’s raw, melodic roots.
