Kontrapunkt was a four-piece screamo band from Essen, Germany. Their existence was fairly short-lived; the band formed in early 2006 and split up in 2008.
Kontrapunkt embodies the characteristic sound of German screamo: chaotic, melancholic, intense, highly dynamic, and deeply rooted in the DIY hardcore punk tradition, with frequent use of dissonance and dramatic contrasts between quiet, restrained passages and explosive emotional outbursts.
