
HYPERION ENSEMBLE was founded in 1976 by the composer Iancu Dumitrescu.
As a starting point, Hyperion explored possible connections between the most archaic Romanian music - Byzantine music, folk music collected by Bartok, etc. - and today’s avant-garde music.
