
Grant was among some new artistes who stood out when Robert Amar and Caribbean Sound Basin gave them a break at recording and performing back in the 80's. Trinidad-born General Grant began his career as a toaster and DJ at various performances in his native land. Later expanding into reggae and hip-hop on releases including 1998's Mr. Energizer, his sound also included elements of soca, dancehall and Caribbean rhythms.
