When their Toronto-based psych metal band Quest for Fire split up in 2013, guitarist Andrew Moszynski and vocalist/guitarist Chad Ross decided they weren't done working together and re-formed under the name Comet Control. Adding bassist Nicole Howell, drummer Jay Anderson, and Christopher Sandes on keyboards, the band added a layer of shoegaze dreaminess to the thudding heaviness of Quest for Fire's sound.
