1879 is a black metal band from Chile. Lyrical themes include history, war and hate. Thus far, the band has released one demo, Historias De Guerra y Muerte. According to Metal Archives, 1879 is the date of the beginning of the Guerra del Pacífico (War of the Pacific), in which the forces of Chile fought against a defensive alliance of Bolivia and Peru which ended in 1884 with a victorious Chile.
